Vaccinations

Canine: The following vaccination schedule is recommended to ensure for appropriate canine health.

Puppyhood Series: Starting at 6-8 weeks of age, puppy receives DHPP vaccination every 4 weeks through 12 weeks of age.

DHLPP: For puppies 12 weeks of age and older, first vaccination boostered in 30 days then annually. See Common Conditions (D=distemper, H=hepatitis (adenovirus), L=leptospirosis, P=parainfluenzavirus, P=parvovirus) to find a listing of these diseases.  We do not vaccinate Pugs or Dachshund for leptospirosis.

Rabies: First vaccination to be given at 12 weeks of age or older is valid for 1 year. Each additional vaccination is valid for 3 years. Must be given in order to obtain dog\'s license from local governing body. Click to find license locations in your area.

Bordetella Bronchiseptica: Optional vaccination recommended for dogs that will be encountering groups of other dogs such as at the groomer, boarding facility, etc. First vaccination given intranasally after 12 weeks of age then boostered subcutaneously on an annual basis.

Lyme Disease: Optional vaccination recommended for dogs with increased exposure to tall grasses and wooded areas such as hunting dogs and camping companions. First vaccination needs to be boostered in 2-3 weeks, then annually. Initial vaccination to be given any time after puppyhood series.

Porphymonas: Recommended for small breed dogs and others with chronic oral conditions. Consult your veterinarian for details. First vaccination to be boostered in 2-3 weeks, and then annually. Initial vaccination to be given any time after puppyhood series.


Feline: The following vaccination schedule is recommended to ensure appropriate feline health.

Kittenhood Series: Starting 6-8 weeks of age, kitten receives FCRVP vaccination every 4 weeks through 16 weeks of age.

FCRVP: For kittens sixteen weeks of age and older, first vaccination boostered in 30 days then annually. See Common Conditions.  (C=calicivirus, R=rhinotrachitits, P=panleukopeniavirus)

Feline Leukemia: Recommended for cats that go outdoors or have exposure to other cats. Discuss details with your veterinarian. First vaccination boostered in 30 days and then annually.

Feline Rabies: First vaccination to be given at 12 weeks of age or older is valid for 1 year. Each additional vaccination is valid for 3 years. For residents of the City of Muskegon, a rabies vaccination must be given for cats to become licensed.
