Dr. Peterson is a North Muskegon native and graduated from North Muskegon High School. After High School, he spent a year and a half at Albion College before transferring to Michigan State University for the remainder of undergraduate work before entering Michigan State’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
While in undergrad, he started working at Northside and found it to be the perfect fit. Following graduation from veterinary school in 2003, he started working immediately as a doctor of veterinary medicine at Northside Veterinary Hospital where in 2007, he was fortunate enough to purchase the practice from Dr. Tom Peterson (no relation).
In 2014, Dr. Alan Zamarron was looking to retire and in April of 2014, Dr. Eric Peterson bought Holton Road Veterinary Clinic from him. Since then, both offices have been working together to provide many services to the client base that were not available before.
At Northside Veterinary Hospital, we are determined to provide comprehensive quality care for our patients. Our practice is a place where genuine care, comfort and quality veterinary medicine is our highest mission.
Your trust in us is invaluable and we will do everything we can to earn and maintain that trust. Contact us today to schedule a visit with your pets.
Dr Peterson is the absolute best! He helped so much when our Makayla was diagnosed with bladder cancer and with her passing. Took many phone calls and listened to me cry.. a lot! He is now helping us with our new puppy! He is an amazing vet!

Friendly staff, always treat my dogs right!
We strive to help you understand your pet's health considerations, and we encourage you to be involved in decisions regarding your pet's health care.
Finally, wellness examinations help us establish a relationship with you and your pet.Through your pet's physical examinations, other wellness procedures, and our consultations with you, we get to know your pet and learn about his or her lifestyle, personality, health risks, home environment, and other important information.
We encourage you to use wellness examinations to take an active role in your pet's health care.
Request a refill of any medications you need online, and stop in when you're ready to pick up!
Order food, medications, monthly prevention, or anything you might need right to your door!
Whether your pet is a youngster, a "senior citizen," or any age in between, wellness examinations provide an excellent opportunity for us to conduct a thorough physical examination and develop a health profile for your pet.
This information will help us identify medical problems and any other issues that can affect your pet's health and quality of life. A wellness examination includes an evaluation of all of your pet's major organ systems. We'll use the wellness visit to ask you questions about your pet's behavior, appetite, exercise habits, and regular activities at home.
This is also an excellent time for us to discuss any routine diagnostic testing that may benefit your pet or to recommend any vaccinations that may be due. If your pet seems healthy, a wellness examination is a good opportunity to note any changes, such as weight gain or loss or other subtle changes that may not be evident at home. Sometimes, information obtained during a wellness examination can help detect early signs of illness and address health issues before they progress.
Friendly, knowledgable staff and clean, relaxing environment for your pet.
Very nice place, great vet and friendly staff.
We take both of our dogs here. The staff are friendly, the place is clean and tidy, and the vets and vet techs are great with our dogs, even the more skittish one!
